Sagar, Nov 13, 2015 : The Bible Convention “SAGAR ABHISHEKAAGNI” organised at St. Joseph’s Church turned out to be a gigantic success. Thousands of faithful participated in the convention that was held from 8th Nov to 12th Nov 2015. Rev. Fr Xavier Khan Vattayil, a renowned preacher of the Word of God and the Director of Sehion Retreat Centre, Attapady, led the gathering to an unprecedented spiritual experience during the five days convention. 

Most. Rev. Dr Francis Serrao, the Bishop of Shimoga inaugurated the convention on 8th Nov 2015  with the Holy Eucharistic celebration and enlightened the people to be witnesses of the Gospel. 

Most. Rev. Dr Derek Fernandes, the Bishop of Karwar presided over the Holy Eucharistic celebration and preached the homily to be filled with the love of Christ.

On the third day, Rev. Fr Venus Praveen Colaco, the Parish Priest of Sagar celebrated the Holy Eucharist and preached the homily by giving a call to live a New life in Christ. Most. Rev. Dr Joseph Arumachadath, the Bishop of Bhadravathi, gave the solemn blessing during the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. 

Most. Rev. Dr Thomas Vazhapilly, the Bishop of Mysore, presided over the Eucharistic celebration on the fourth day and preached on role of Mother Mary in Christian Life.

All the five days had special intentions to pray and was dedicated to a particular purpose. While the first day was specially dedicated to the little children, the second day was dedicated to the youth. The third day was dedicated to couples and the fourth day to the sick and needy.

The last day was specially dedicated to all the leaders. Fr Xavier gave a mind blowing homily on active participation and life of the people in the parish. Each day consisted of 3 powerful talks by Fr. Xavier Vattayil where he focussed on the challenges in the family life, ways and means to live a holy Christian life, and how the parishioners can be prayerfully united and filled with the Spirit.

The convention was organised systematically by St. Joseph’s Parish under the guidance of Fr. Venus Colaco and was a grand success. The programme lasted for 5 consecutive days from 9am to 5pm consisting of 3 talks, healing sessions, Holy Eucharist and Adoration at the end of the day. The number of the participants of the convention who came from many other places rose to 4000 on the final day.
