Sagar, January 1, 2017: The week long Christmas Cultural Programmes from December 25th to January 1st drew crowds irrespective of caste and creed to St. Joseph's Church.  

Speaking at the inter-religious dialogue programme, Shri Shri Shri Basava Marulasiddha Swamiji of Basava Kendra at Shimoga said that Service is the heart of every religion.  Only a person who has undergone pain himself can reach out to others. Mother Theresa who experienced pain and poverty in her younger days, reached out to those who were in pain and poverty. Mr. Syed Ismail of Mangalore Counselling Centre said that we should realise the presence of the Divine in the other. This leads to world peace.






Presiding over the Inter Religious Dialogue Programme, Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao, Bishop of Shimoga, emphasised that religion should be translated into action.

Rev. Fr. Jerome Moras, Director of the Diocesan Inter Religious Commission spoke about the exemplary life of Mother Theresa.

Distinguished personalities of the city,  Ms. N. Usha, President of Muncipality, Mrs. Maria Leema, Vice President of Muncipality, Mr. Mansoor Ali Khan, President of Standing Committee, Mrs. Reena Andrade, President of Teachers Association, Sri. Valentine D'Souza, Dy. S. P., Mangalore  were felicitated during the Christmas Cultural Programme.

Mary Kallolickal welcomed.  Selvi Gomes proposed the vote of thanks.  The programme ended with a Bharata Natyam performance by Monalisa D'Souza.
